Hello , we are looking to renew our love for the tin tent,we will be siting the tourer in Wales. The Sterling Amethyst 2005 double bed either end/dinette looks a good bet but are they a good caravan, i ask this because there doesnt seem to be many of them around or if folks have them are they keeping them?
We have an amethyst, a 1999 version though. We love it, it's in good nick and has held up well to family use (not by us as we've only had it 18 months). I agree there don't tend to be many about as I think they were relatively high end when new so expensive for a family van. Happy hunting.
We sold or Sterling Eccles Amethyst 2002 today. Only reason to upgrade to a new Sterling Ruby fixed bed which should arrive in March. We loved the Amethyst and were sad to see her roll off the drive behind someone elses car. Lovely van hope the new owners have as much enjoyment with her as we did. You are right we never saw many about.
Our second van was a Sterling Emerald. Was brilliant - no damp, faults etc. We upgraded to a new Ace Jubilee and found that the Sterling was better made. Think I am right in saying that the Sterling Emerald was upper mid range while the Jubilee is lower mid range. Even though it was new, our Jubilee is less well made and thought out (although still love it's fixed bed!).
Am sure you will be fine although watch out when sited for a season - we did this a couple of years ago (but missed touring so much) and the caravan gets so filthy - especially on the roof! Hope you enjoy!
