Hi! Stupid question coming up : what is the difference between an Elddis Odyssey 544 and an Elddis Avante 544?

I've looked at both from the same year and can notice differences in the upholstery pattern! The Odyssey also has a built in microwave and a moulded shower cubicle. Are there any other differences, and is an Odyssey a more expensive/upmarket version of an Avante?

Thanks

Yes, the Odyssey is an upmarket Avante , has better upholstery, different materials for locker doors etc.
It is also heavier, and (when we bought our Avante) wider - the Avante goes down the drive, the Odyssey wouldn't.

The Avante is more a budget van, but certainly well enough equipped for our needs and comfortable.

Thanks both. I looked at the Avante today but its over a month since I saw the Odyssey so couldn't quite remember the difference(s). But I did remember the difference in the shower cubicle - the white moulded cubicle in the Odyssey does look better but is there much practical advantage?

The Odyssey is a tad more upmarket although that sounds a bit snobby. The fitings/finish etc are a little more plusher. Its heavier, beautiful, steers in a straight line, looks gorgeous when polished, has a comfortable bed, plenty of room in the bathroom for a party, the envy of the locals when sat in the drive.......I think I am getting carried away. Its just heavier due to the weight of the content and the finish is a bit posher really...

Cheers Phil, do you think it might have a better mattress than the Avante? I'm trying to work out if it might be worth it for me to pay the extra for the Odyssey. A better mattress would be a definite plus, as would the moulded shower enclosure.

Hope to pop back to look at the Odyssey again tomorrow.

Thanks

Don't know what your body is like for lying down sunshine. Best approach is to look at both vans and lie down on the beds. Apart from comfort make sure your whole body can fit on streatched out!!!

As you will see from my side panel we have the 540 which is the up market version of the Avante and if you look at both you can see the difference in finish. Nothing wrong with the Avante finish just different. At the end of the day your decision may just be down to cost and weight depending on what you are towing with. MTPLM of 1570kg for the Odyssey means a tow car of 1840Kg plus. I pull with a Kia Sportage but could not do so (within the 85% rule) with the new Sportage as Kia have gone lighter with their models. Wouldn't want to pull the Odyssey at higher than an 85% match especially if some daft fool decides to stop half way up a hill!!!! So if you need a new car as well cost is important. Its all about compromise isn't it?

Either way...Elddis...good choice.

Thanks all for all the insight and links above.

After seeing the Avante on Monday I went back and looked at the Odyssey again yesterday. Both vans are 2007, the Avante is in better nick, the Avante dealer is offering the better deal. The exterior styling and interior cupboard fronts, handles, wallboards, curtains etc are identical. The two vans are the same size. The Odyssey does have a lot of pluses when you compare them directly, some of which are more important to me, eg enclosed/moulded shower cubicle, better mattress, than others eg more scatter cushions, additional open shelving above bedhead. But it is a lot more money than the Avante, more than I can justify.

So, think I'm going to be voting Avante (it has prettier fabrics too!) if I can go ahead with my van plans, although I've run into a nasty stumbling block at the mo.
