Hi All,Last year noticed one or two small dents in side panel of my van, and found more last month, (could not for the life of me think how they got there as van had been parked there for two months and no dents), until one day I saw how it was happening, it turned out to be the window cleaners ladder, as he was going to back of the house, his ladder was on his left shoulder and the bottom of ladder hit the van(limited space), and on his return it was over his right shoulder, and again hit van, I pointed out he was damageing the van as he passed, he said he would be more careful,On his next visit, he hit it again, that was his very last vist, he no longer cleans my windows,( I do them my self now, as I have tilt and turn windows), The dents are hardly noticeable at the moment, if situation was left to carry on, the van could look pretty bad over a longer time period. There have been no more dents since,

About 12 dents in all,the other not in pics, can only be seen when light strikes then from different angle, will need to try and get pics a little bigger.

Send him a bill for the damage, our last window cleaners were standing in our garden chairs to clean the downstairs windows, always wondered how they moved around on there own so we sacked them and their boss called round to see why,he was not happy when he left.

same here on our 206.sacked the window cleaner and he dented the car £500 later it was mended.could not prove it.the fact it left two deep dents 11 inch apart ( width of the ladder base ) gave him  away.

Had the same problem with my previous van a few years ago. Managed to cover some of the dents with a few extra orange reflectors strategically placed but as most of yours appear are on the rippled surface doesn't look feasible - not 12 anyway. Really annoying isn't it.Have had our van three years now and, touch wood, only had one dent which was inflicted during it's service last year at the Caravan Centre. Luckily it was confirmed by the receptionist who checked it in and out. They repaired it as new.Ours is stored at the side of the house also and I'm paranoid one of the grandchildren are going to catch a zip on it or something similar.

Is this a professional window cleaner carrying public liability, or some bloke who goes around offering to wash windows for a fiver? Because any real professional will have insurance and you should make them pay.

excellent advice. Anyway, if he is self employed he will have declared his self employed status to the Inland Revenue and be claiming his insurance premiums against his tax liability. (Naive?) Might as well make use of that policy. You may not mind the dents now...but if you ever come to selling....remember a claim is not personal its just business.

Hi All, The window cleaner is self employed and has been for 30 years now, and only caught him when he hit van,and only slight scuff, could not prove the rest of dents down to him, though he was only one who needed accsess to rear of prorerty, and to make matters worse, he is old school mate, Dents from the window cleaners ladders, surprised to find that, is not an uncommon problem, OK now have CCTV cameras, catch the grandchildren riding their bikes by van to get in back gate, (now locked) as kids do, they denied it (showed them on camera) they forgot and did it again, threat of slipper put end to the practice, if they want bikes repaired the get off and push bike to garage, with them inbetween van and bike, As you say Phil, ..(..remember a claim is not personal its just business.) normaly I would not let it go, but in this case, it is a bit personal as he is a mate, and the dents are not that noticeable, I only noticed them when washing van, and the are nothing compared to the damage i caused when I slipped in the snow in the sub zero conditions, and my foot hit the side of the A frame panel, took a 3"X 4" piece out of panel,so brittle it just shattered, thats another repair.will need to get the old holts out. will take pics and post when A frame panel repair completed. Oh the joys of caravaning
