hi we have just had our first caravan. I hope it will last us years with good care. Was just wondering how long you have had your caravans. What do you like about caravaning? I cant wait to see it when we arrange to collect it, I brought a duvet cover today for our caravan, do you keep things in your caravan i.e pots and pans? do you use menanmie plates or stoneware plates?
when we went to the nec the last thing I would of expected my partner to have say yes we have it. he not one for buying something unless he 100% likes it as he usually sees something wrong with something. practical person he says lol x
Ours is a Bailey Ranger 550/6 its perfect for us and its our pride and joy. Had it 9mths and really missing it over the winter months. I love the getting out there and travelling and meeting some real wonderful people. We keep nearly everything in the van except the valuables like tv etc..
Aella851 you sound as excited as we were when we bought our first van its very much our baby.. It only gets more exciting too, there's lots of fab places to explore on this island

Had our current van for 3 weeks. Kept the previous 2 for a year each. The one we've just bought will last us around 2-3 years until DS (15) doesn't want to come anymore. Then we'll change to the van of my dreams - 4 berth fixed bed with lovely end washroom.
We keep melimine dinner service & complete set of pots & pans etc... in the van. Tend not to leave bedding as it gets damp & musty feeling in winter & I worry what crawlies I might find in it if left in summer
weve had ours 3 and1/2 years love it like been away form hustle and bustle of homelife .its a different world away .we have just bought a brand new coachman amara 550/5 same layout as ours so lookinf forward to pickin it up

we got our first van in december as a xmas present to ourselves. we splashed out a bit to get the layout we wanted for the four of us. we took it out in january to test it, and have just got back from our second weekend away. but, although we haven't had it long, or used it much, we love it and think it's the best thing we've ever done!
We have been caravanning now for six years and like it because it's not only a sense of freedom but like having the use of our own equipment too. We had previously been so disappointed with many expensive holidays such as hotels, B&B's, holiday camps, coaching holidays plus self catering chalets and caravans that we had just about had enough and having a dog as well was the perfect choice for us of owning a touring caravan. Although we have owned tents and trailer tents many years ago we find that our caravan fits the bill perfectly.
We always use sleeping bags as a duvet can be difficult to store. Our plates etc. are Melamine because they are light but we don't use the Melamine cups anymore because they stain easily which we tried everything to clean them without success so we use ordinary household mugs.
Got our caravan mid December and had two outings so far and although they were cold and wet, we had a great time. Booked up for a couple of nights for this week at Braithwaite in the lakes.
We keep most of our kit in the campervan as we use that as the tug.
Got my 1969 caravan last year and spent 9 months doing her up - you can see her in my gallery images. I'm looking forward to several trips away in her this season - the first trip planned is on 1st April with the C&CC.
I use melamine and keep everything apart from bedding and food in Holi all the time so she's ready to go!
Got ours 2 years ago - its a 2005 Elddis Avante 636. We keep all crockery (melamine) , pots 'n' pans etc, torch in it and through the summer, keep basic food essentials too. When we go away we put the bedding in, TV, and food and away we go!
We also use it October and Feb half term and do need to alter what we take for winter camping (winter duvet and sleeping bags, porch awning instead of full awning and don't bother with the BBQ and chairs for outside. We also don't take the double ring electric hob and camp kitchen - all that is reserved for summer camping only)
We always take big council recylcing boxes to keep wellies etc in inside the porch awing, also useful for carrying stuff.
This is our first caravan - bought it last July & its a 2009 model. As tenters we knew we loved everything about holidaying on campsites but the faffing & packing with the tent didn't suit us so we decided to jump straight in with 2 feet and get a newish van. We absolutely love it, OH in particular finds it more satisying as he gets bored if doing nothing so the to and fro'ing with water, loo etc and tinkering with it generally suits him in and out of season. We did a lot of research so know we have the best layout for our needs - we intend to keep this van or another 3-4 years possibly 5 if we don't feel the need to change.
