I suspect there is nothing on the market out there for this, but is any one aware of any way you can reduce the noise of rain hitting the roof of your van.
In every van I've ever been inside, the slightest spot of rain seems to be amplified in a van to sound like a tropical rain storm.
Even worse still is getting a pitch under a tree in a rain storm, when in the van, it sounds as if drops the size of golf balls are hitting the van.
Im considering taking ear plugs next time, which may have some added benefits connected to the wife and kids, but might also afford a good nights sleep.

Lol, nothing wrong with getting romantic about it.
I like the sound when I'm at home, we've got a Challet type house, and when the wet stuff comes down, the quite sound of the rain hitting the roof can send me off to sleep in seconds.
A bit different to the van at night where the sound is akin to climbing in tin biscuit box and sitting it in a shower on jet spray mode.
Agreed, way better than a tent though, where if your unlucky enough you get to feel as well as hear it.
I tent sometimes in the summer, they kids love it, but I'm carefull only when the weather is guarunteed. I woke up in the middle of the night in two inches of water a few years ago, never forgot it. Quite funny now, but not at the time.
