Well Guys,

we've just had our first week in our first caravan,but i need to know,

do i keep my battery connected whilst im plugged into site mains and whilst im travelling home.

Hi,

The simple answer is yes, we leave our battery connected all the time even whilst parked in storage, the only time we disconnect ours is to bring it home for charging which is done once over winter due to the fact it has a tracker and alarm powered from it.

ours is connected by EHU at home full time from the shed.its on a timer of about 4 hours a day this keeps the battery fully charged for next time we go.have done this for years without a problem.

If you disconnect the battery then it will not receive any charge whilst hooked up. The charger will not be working and that in turn would probably affect the use of your 12v DC system (lights pumps flush). The Hook Up runs the DC systems - fridge sockets. Further, if you leave the battery wires free when travelling they may just touch and short your 12v system. Probably just blow a fuse, but its best not to go there anyway.
