I agree Grampian91, we keep having to searcj for vans max laden weight when the ads miss them out. Still having little joy with sellers. Given up emailing and just phoning now.

I bought from sellers (3) on this website two of whom were not regulas contributers to forums.  I had good experiences every time - maybe just lucky.  On one other occasion the 'van was in poor condition and not as described but that was more naievity on the seller's part as they were genuine folk. After I showed them the water damage they eventually virtually gave the 'van away to a dealer.  I have one pending purchase and we are meeting up in the summer to conclude the deal - speaks volumes for mutual trust on here, eh?

spoke to two sellers tonight, one a 6hr round trip away who hasnt got any photos (offered to take one of van on drive and post it to us!!) and has two awnings but dosent know what they are when we asked the make just that the full awning was adapted to fit his new van which is now 5yrs old.

The second cant send us pics til they take them at the weekend. We dont want to travel to Sussex without seeing some photos.  Maybe its just me but surely people get themselves organised before advertising their vans. I'm not the most patient person but find the waiting around so frustrating.

Savanne, that would mean people using some common sense and that unfortunately is a rapidly deminishing commodity

We got caught out by a seller on this forum who pose as an individual but was actually a trader having sold several caravans in several months. He also misdescribed the year of the caravan as it turned out to be three years older.
Anyway reported him to Trading Standards and they are prosecuting him based on the evidence we supplied. He still advertsies on this forum. Always click on their name as this will show you if they have any history of previous sales. Thanks to the forum member that pointed this out to me. Luckily this type of person is few and far between and this could have happened on any forum.

I currently have an ad running and have had responses such as:

I am disabled will you deliver to site? (which probably means will you deliver to site and put it up for me and I might not like it and try and knock you down or say after you have come all this way I don't want it)

Will you send it by courier?

I have now put it on ebay and have stressed, no buy it now price, collection only and cash on collection.

Last time I sold something on ebay I asked for cash on collection (I don't want to pay paypal fees, and they paid me by paypal, grrrr!)

I think a lot of it is the ease of email. If people had to make the effort to phone they would be more likely to be seriously interested.
