Picking up the van from storage today to store on the drive till the weekend. Will spend this afternoon in and out of it giving it a good clean and may even stop in there for a coffee.  Let the neighbours look.  I just love to come out on a morning on my way to work and see it sitting there as I know it means a trip away is on the horizon.  It gets a quick hello each time I pass and sometimes a little stroke.  How bizarre is that.

I don't normally speak to my car, or call it my baby so I don't think I'm certifiable just yet but what is it about caravans that makes you love them so much.

The choice this morning was 'Do I clean the caravan inside, or the house'

Yes.. you guessed right, the caravan won.  I am part way through, just came in for a drink.

We havn't got anything booked until the end of April, think I will have to change that.

I sometimes envy all you folk that can keep your vans at home.  We generally can't bring ours home - can't get it on the drive.  If I did have it at home, though, I'm sure I'd get very little else done.

Ours is on the drive, its cover is coming off tonight if.... the forecast doesn't say freezing tonight as OH is going to sterilise the water system for 24 hours.  The hook up will go on and I will get excited about turning the fridge on ahem!!!  We are hoping to just do a quick overnighter locally at the weekend, no awning or anything and have a fiddle with our new gadgies OH particularly keen to have a play with his new Avtex tv.  Its clean and spotless the bedlinen and tableware etc are all waiting to go in.  All we have talked about for the last week has been the caravan & spent the entire weekend on it, the kids are excited about it - I just dont think we can wait any longer....!

Glad I'm not the only one that says hello to my caravan.  We are lucky as storage is only a mile away and we can put her on the drive for short periods but it does mean we have to park on the road and our grass so its not ideal but she (yes its a girl) usually arrives a couple of days before we go away.  New cushions gong in today.  I spent more on them that I did for the ones in the house!  But she is my baby after all.

Ours is called Colin, we have only had it since the 17th of February and it is our first caravan, he is on the drive until the storage are ready for him in a couple of weeks, wish I could leave it here permanently but we live on a new estate and there are restrictions with regards to commercial vehicles and caravans for the first 5 years. Roll on 2013! We had a chinese takeaway delivered to ours one Saturday night, the poor delivery boy jumped out of his skin as he walked up my drive to knock the front door with my crispy beef in his hand and I opened the barn door on the van with a £20 note in my hand. I love the privacy with the blinds shut all round, no-one knows I'm in there with a book and a cuppa. When Colin goes to the storage site I will be gutted but its only 3 miles away so I may be calling in every weekend to stroke and whisper sweet nothings to him to make sure he knows he isnt abandoned!

That brings back memories.  We had pizzas delivered to our friends van on their drive.  Needless to say after a couple of trips away with them we got our own van.  Must admit our delivery boy looked slight bemused as well.

Another spooky coincidence - my husband is called Colin!!

Nanshirley says "Yes.. you guessed right, the caravan won.  I am part way through, just came in for a drink."

You really need some training lady! You will have gas in the van...use it to make your cuppa and sit in the van like a proper caravanner...I don't know

I love sitting out in the caravan, I'm studying with the OU and it is my quiet place to escape to so that I can get some work done. I'm sure my neighbours think I'm nuts.

Like nanashirley I was out the other hanging my new curtains and admiring the upholstery I've done, when I really should have been in the house working. I love reading the forums (- the only one I've joined) as it gets me in the mood for going away.
