We are another family looking to move to a van this yr. We had one back in early 90's which if I remember seemed to have lots a of condensation in the morning. I am looking at 5 berth vans with double at back and bunk above, across back window. I looked at one recently and thought that our youngests bedding etc would be very close to window and as he doesn't do sleeping bags it would be his duvet and bedding.Has anyone else had problems with this or has it resolved as vans got/get better.
Probably really stupid question but would like to know what to expect
Vans have ventilation built in although I doubt if it would be suficient for the number you are having in your van. Have windows on the first catch during the night, especially one at the front and one at the rear. That way you get more circulation without a gust blowing through. It helps

we have the bailey ranger 500/5 with this configuration.we do not use the bunk but our grandchild has this full size bed to himself.it is made up as normal.not seen any damp issues.when cold at night at the front and with the fire on all day with three sleeping we get slight condensation at the rear of the cushions against the wall.our older bailey had boards fitted to stop this from happening.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Same here, a little condensation at the rear of our van early in the year, but not a lot more. Probably different with different vans though, a buddy of mine was complaining about condensation in his lockers a few weeks ago when on a trip. But as this was only on one side of the van, I suspect he had a slightly different problem.
old caravanners swear by corrugated cardboard under the mattress as this keeps the air circulating.not tried it myself. there is these but not cheap i think.
Easy to cut to size with a good pair of scissors, the mat can be used under any mattress or seating cushion to eliminate totally damp and condensation build up. The mat is also non-slip because of its rubber coating and therefore grips the mattress to prevent it sliding around.

We have one of these mats under are front dinette when made up as bed. The table makes up the base of the bed and not slats.
As for the rest of the van, at night we keep windows on the 'ventilation' setting, and unless it is extremely cold outside we don't have a problem. We always have a window open in our bedroom at home.
