The diagram in the Alde manual shows it with the top lifted off, the pump sits inside the reservoir, the motor above it. You remove the top to lift out the pump. I will get OH to take some photos of ours so you can see.
If you need to bleed the system, you need to find the vents on the radiators or pipework. The auto-bleeding is on the boiler, the autovent, as the boiler is one of the high points on the system.
Hi, following jennifernn's post, I have taken a few photos from our caravan showing the arrangement at the expansion tank of the ALDE heating system.
The 1st photo shows the cover for the pump motor fitted.
The 2nd shows the cover removed.
The 3rd shows the pump assembly removed.
The 4th shows the pump assembly re fitted.
Hope this clarifies how this part of the heating system is put together.
To top up coolant the pump assembly has to be removed as shown in the 3rd photo.

Kjell and Jennifer, Thank you for a superb clear answer to my question. I posted a second post elsewhere on the same subject as I suddenly realised that this sequence of posts were actually a year old. (but still causing problems for the newcomer to all this modern equipment). You guys deserve a medal. Your photos are excellent. It's a pity you don't work for Alde's instruction manuals. Thanks again.
