Need to share my good news, on Monday next week I will be the proud owner of a new caravan. I have taken in my beloved Elddis to have the mover swapped over and the new van (Swift Challenger 570) will be ready to collect next Monday :-)

Interested to hear if anybody else on here has opted for the new Swift Challenger which we after much debating finally agreed on?

One final point, I cannot believe how much stuff we have in the caravan!!! our house is jam packed full of items that we had to remove.

Roll on Easter.

Congratulations on your new van, i hope you have many happy hours in her

I totally agree about the amazing amount of stuff we all seam to carry, we have just emptied ours whilst it goes in for its full service and damp check, likewise its piled up everywhere around the house, and we are now starting to have a big sort out and vowing to get rid of it all by at least half, its all the 'spares' we carry that make up the most of it, so from now the rule is only one set of crockery and cutlery per person, and to clear out all the stuff carried  'just in case'

If we really do want something whilst were away, were never far away from a shop!

Hiya sax congratulations on your new van! Ooh i am so envious, i love the new Seift/Sterling 'vans but can't have one for at least 12 months (saving up!).

I notice you have a 4007 - i would be interested to know how your new outfit tows as we want the Sterling Eccles Quartz which has similar weights/measurements to the Challenger 570.

Please keep us posted how you get on with the new 'van.

Hi Lassie

In my opinion the 4007 tows like a dream, I have never had any problems towing my Elddis that I have just exchanged and this was 23.5' with a MPLM 1500kgs.

What will be intersting is to see the difference in how the two units differ in towing, with the Elddis having the BPW chassis and my new van having an ALKO chassis?? Hopefully there won't be too much difference to report! But i will keep you informed.

Hi we have just been through the same.
The first thing you will notice is the smell of the new van-lovely!
One piece of advice, don`t be tempted to put everything in the new van that you took out of the old one. Always conscious of weight we have tried to be strict about this. Its amazing how much clutter you can accumulate in a caravan.
Romany Girl is quite right about the "just in case "comment, this probably applies to the stuff in my garage too.

I cut the amount of 'junk' I carried when I got a new 'van simply by not carrying spare parts and tools that I needed to keep the old one working! I still carry two pumps and a small toolbox with torque wrench(which lives in the boot of the car now) but a massive pile of stuff now resides in my garage for use as and when.

The main problem I had with a new caravan was wanting new accessories to go with it such as new slow cooker, new George Foreman Grill, new kettle, new tv etc....

Get it loaded up and then pay a visit to your local weighbridge.
