Don't bank on an easy journey just because the new road's there. It opened today and driving home to Weymouth from Dorchester this afternoon at 3.45 it would appear that the traffic problem has simply been moved (something all of us in Weymouth have been saying for years would happen). The queue of traffic between Weymouth and Dorchester was very long indeed. I suppose time will tell but I don't think miracles are going to happen.
This new road has been promised/threatened for years. It seemed to suddenly be approved once the Olympics were awarded and we were unlucky enough to get the sailing. Many 'improvements' are being made to Weymouth and us locals have seen enough for us to believe that things won't change much atall. We are planning to escape in July/August 2012 as it's going to be hell here!!!
Totally agree with you, that's why I only said that the road will be opening, apparently upto 60,000 people a day will be heading to the Weymouth area during the Olympics, I know as well as you that the new road still won't make a difference but I am sure this summer will show it.
