Hi,

Can anyone tell me if on a 5 berth van that consists of a large double at the front, small double at the rear with an overhead bunk. Can the small double be made into 2 singles?

I have seen this mentioned in the Practical caravan mag from last month on the identical van to the one I own a swift Charisma 545 2002 model.

cheers

Sugolly

I have that layout. The seats at the back aren't really long enough for singles (dependant upon the size of the occupant obviously). I have 2 daughters who sleep end to end on it as a double. It does make a good sized double bed which would leave the longer front end seats for 2 singles. I have only used the bunk once for my 8 year old niece so tend to leave most of the bunk bits in my garage.

we have this on our bailey 500/5,the answer is yes but they are not very long at the back and would only fit children.i will look for the size.

front 6 ft 8 in x 4 ft 4 in /  or two 5 ft 11 in x 2 ft 3 in / rear double 6 ft 8 in x 4 ft 2 in / and rear overhead 5 ft 9 in x 1 ft 11 in

so looks like 4 ft 2in x 2 ft 3 in.x 2

We've been looking at 5 berths and measuring the width of the transverse double bed. They are mostly about 52/54 inches wide which means 2 singles for 2 very small people !

Thought I might be missing something not had van for that long.

Would have to be really small kids mine are 7&10 and they would not fit on them as 2 singles!!!!!

It was reviewed in a caravan mag last month and they said about the 2 singles it just got me thinking what am I missing nothing by the sounds of it!!!!!!!!!

Our last van was a 5 berth & we've sometimes made the double up at the back, put DS to bed there then moved him onto one of the front benches when we're ready for bed.  It saved us having to make the front double up aswell as the back.  DS is only  6 tho so not too heavy to carry to the front in his sleep.
