I have the said adapter some garages will let you fill them some won,t but if you are quick its  ok around £7 to fill 6kg bottle

Makes you wonder how come Calor can add on another £12.99 especially when you see the state of some of the bottles that are given to you.?

Obviously there are the associated health and safety risks though with filling a pressurised container yourself but if your prepared to chance it go for it.

stand corrected but i thought that the bottles must only be about 85% full in order to gas correctly,is there not a chance of overfilling the bottle at a garage.and how safe is it to do yourself and would it be allowed?

theres a little conversion chart on adapter i normally put 10 litres in rather than the stated 11 the filler is just like a car one twist and queese

If the OP is still having difficulties sourcing calor light, Dickinsons in Bradford have them in stock (I've exchanged one this morning) - Aire Valley Gas just around the corner from them could also have ordered me one in for later today, although they hadn't any in stock just when I called in.

What sort of deposit are they asking for on the Calor lite bottles anyway?

Reading this post with interest and don't like hyjacking the original post but I have two Calor lite bottles on van with one due to run out very soon....looks to me like I might at present be faced with doing a swap back to the old bottle, which is not acceptable, unless I wait around having only the one lite one installed, until I can find a dealer that has a new lite bottle available to swap.

What happened to Calor plan to have all the old steel ones replaced with Lite type....looks like it has cost them a lot of money so they have abandoned it until a steel one is past it's Use By date if such a thing exists!

This thread doesn't sound good for those of us calor-lite fans.  I hope that calor can sort it soon.

Here is a quotation from their website - seems fair enough if it works:

Paul Blacklock, Marketing Manager for Calor explained: “We hoped the new lightweight Calor Lite cylinder would be a success, which it clearly has been. But, the unprecedented demand we have seen, has resulted in a small number of caravanners experiencing some difficulties with stock availability in a few areas of the country."

“We apologise to anyone this has affected and want to reassure caravanners, motorhomers and campers that we are working to rectify the situation. We have invested in thousands more Calor Lite cylinders and these are being introduced throughout the season to try and keep up with the high demand. However, as you will understand, these are being delivered to existing Calor Lite stockists first and this has resulted in our not being able to extend the network as quickly as we would like.  In addition we will continue to offer a free exchange for existing Calor cylinder holders to the Calor Lite bottle, but limited to customers who already have a Calor 6kg or 7kg cylinder. This will allow us to manage stock numbers more effectively and fulfil orders for existing Calor Lite customers."

Thanks David, I too hope it works. It's a pity for those caravanners who haven't yet made the switch, which has in my opinion been a great idea for solving noseweight issues, as it could be a while having read the quote from the Calor marketing manager.

I have as I mentioned in my provious post, one full 6kg calor lite bottle and one on it's very last legs so I will start looking this week to check stocks in the Durham area. I will be happy to lose /right off the very small amount left in my other lite bottle to secure a full bottle which I will need for the forthcoming season which this year will be pretty busy!

Only yesterday I got a refill and the dealer in Worcestershire had no Calor Lite stock for an exchnage unless you already had a Calor Lite bottle!

We were at Bladon Chains CC site about 2 weeks ago and I asked if they had any Calor Lite and was told about the shortage. However when we got home I managed to get one from a local small DIY shop and perhaps those looking might have more luck than tradition caravan outlets. Anyone in MK could try Pollards in Bletchley
