Hi, we've just taken delivery of our first-ever caravan, a four-year-old Compass Omega 482 and are absolutely thrilled with it. However, we've just discovered that the side windows (they are Seitz) won't stay open, probably should have checked before we bought it. The side arm thingies are supposed to hold the window open - but they don't.
Does anyone know, are we doing something wrong or are they kna****ed? If the latter, can we get new bits and repair them easily or is it a dealer job?
When we tried to replace a couple of window stays we ended up taking the original off and carrrying it around with us in order to make sure we matched it up as there just seemed so many different sorts to choose from.
We are on our second Compass with these types of stay. The secret is to be gentle. Slowly push the window open past where you want it to be and then release pressure. the window will drop back a little and then lock in to place. It is nothing to do with age, both of our vans have been new and the windows were the same. Literally just a one-finger push open past where you need it and then release pressure. It should work a treat.

Hi, as Alister says, and if that dose not work, oper window and spray some WD40 on the inner runners of the stays, to clean out any dirt and dust, if that dose not work, see your dealer about repair or replacement.

Thanks guys, Alistair's way did work a treat - I guess we were being a bit too brutal! Everything is fine and dandy now for our first trip on Monday. We know how to work the water, the fridge and the heater are still a bit of a mystery but I'm sure we'll get the hang of them, OH is busy reading the manuals!
