I'd agree with everyone who's said winter is the cheapest - especially with private sales just before Christmas
But if you're patient you can get a good deal any time of the year - it seems to be a case of being in the right place at the right time for the right van.
If you're a family you could say that if you do a package holiday & wait for the van you could have used some of the money from the package hol to pay the extra for the van, buy the accessories you'd need & pay some site fees instead...

We have just sold our Luna , and it sold within 36 hours!!!! We got a good price too, so now we are looking for a newer one, it's actually quite hard to find one :( we've been to dealers their prices are really high right now but you get the security of a warrenty, privatley you can get the same van for a few grand less but without peace of mind , plus it really hard to find the van we want, sorry I've gone off, but I agree with the others end of season is best, but if you are like me you can't wait :)
it does depend what you want...we bought ours in june, and had we waited to the end of the season (when we could actually afford it) we would have missed out on the van we wanted.
And me being me looked at what i would have paid had i waited, and reaslised that actually we had saved quite a bit by buying when we did in june.
you also want to consider if you buy now, you get the summer to use it !! chances are if you buy end of season its going to sit around until the weather improves.
When you start looking you will realise that there are fewer caravans that you think that you like or fit your criteria - as others have said start looking now and when you find one you like buy it - there is always a good deal to be done no matter what time of year.
