Hi everyone. Just wondered if anyone can help me as I'm new to the joys of caravanning. The cassette toilet in my caravan has an electric flush but, although the fresh water tank is full and the pump is definitely working, it doesn't release any water to flush, so I'm having to flush manually. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to why there's no water being pumped by the electric pump, and what I can try to fix it?

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve , welcome to UK campsite , when you say fresh water tank do you mean drinking water tank ? On my toilet it has a lockable flap just above the toilet door on the outside and the flush water goes in there .
Could you tell us the make / model / year of your caravan , and if possible the model of your toilet .

Hi Wizard. My pride & joy is a 1991 ABI Daystar 2 berth. The toilet is a Thetford cassette toilet. Sorry for the confusion, I meant the flush water tank. This sits just above the waste tank behind the lockable door on the outside of the caravan. The pump is definitely working, you can hear it, but just not pumping out any flush water. I wondered if I'm missing something simple.

I am guessing at that age the toilet could be a C2. You can try this lift out the toilet roll holder the pump is situated underneath that. The pipe may be off it.

If this is the same type toilet then have a look at This thread where I detail how to change the pump. It may be running but blocked

Which type of cassette toilet do you have, the earlier C4 (bench type) or the later model C200?  I would imagine it would be the C4 in a 1991 caravan.

C4 in the first link and C200 in the second link.

Thanks to everyone for your help, it's very much appreciated. I'll try checking the pump flush hose for blockages etc.

You can access and download a very good repair guide from Thetford's support website. The manual covers most of their products, but an index allows you to search for your model and faults then follow detailed tutorials.

Find the guide here then follow the link titled Repair instructions for all Thetford Sanitation products to download the manual.

I also had a non flushing loo, fuse had blown so replaced, blew again so replaced the pump...still didn't work it ended up being the control panel. But have to say Thetford instructions and fault finding guide was very good...also had the satisfaction of mending it myself!!!

You don't quote the model number of the toilet you have Jason, but I can recommend the repair guide that I've linked in my last post, three up from this last one.
