My van is very old and the cushions are saggy. I have searched and read all about mattress toppers and have been thinking about getting one for the caravan.
Has anyone got experience of a topper making old saggy cushions more comfortable/even? I get the impressions that most posters use them to soften the bed, not to harden/even it up.
Would the 2 inch topper be sufficient?
Thanks

Took a break like everyone over covid, flogged the caravan and got a campervan!
Hi Feezee! I'd gladly swap my very hard mattresses for yours! LOL.. I use a topper to soften them so I don't get pressure pain.
However something uneven like you describe will give you backache - and you don't want that when you're on holiday!
I can't think of anything that will help though. It may be worth buying some new foam blocks and making new cushions - but that's quite expensive!
The other thing I can suggest is to undo the cushions along the back seams where they are sagging and stuff something like foam pillows (or some foam/ pillow innards?) to get the support evened out. Is it possible that you could perhaps just turn the cushions over to sleep on - are they any better upside down?
If not, I think getting the insides evened out would be better than trying to infill with something like a mattress topper on the top, that will mold itself to the sagging bits I would think.
Another alternative is the Raskelf, very expensive and might not work either. Or you could look on Ebay for some newer upholstered cushions from a caravan that's being broken for spares, or see if you can find a caravan breakers near to you for some. There are loads on Ebay at very good prices if you type in caravan cushions into the search box.
We had some cushions refilled at Tockfield in Alfreton, Derbyshire, and found it convenient and reasonable. We took them in ourselves, but they also have a mail-order service. They even have a caravan site for people coming from far afield! According to their ad in CC Mag there's 20% off at the moment. You can get a quote online at www.foam.uk.

Hi feezee, could also try caravan brakers/salvage, just click on area neer you, and it will give you a list of all the caravan brakers, you should get some cushions there.
I'd suggest you consider Tockfield to have your cushions refiled. www.foam.co.uk We followed instructions on their website & removed the covers & buttons from our old seat cushions. Julie posted them off in a box on a Tuesday morning. Wednesday Tockfields rang me for my card detals & the cushions were delivered by courier mid morning thursday. They were out of the caravan less than 48 hours & the workmanship was excellent.
