We have a 2009 Swift Charisma 555 and seem to have a problem with the water system. When I connect up the water (i.e. insert pump pipe into aquaroll) and turn on the taps all I get is loud gurgling in the pipes and no water. After a while, I does correct itself but this can take up to an hour with nothing but gurgling and the occasional spurt of water. Am I doing something stupid or is there a genuine problem. Any advice would be appreciated

Sounds like there is some unwanted air getting into the system or the pump not functioning correctly. I too have had water pump problems this weekend but all ok now.

I agree. I sorted my dads system out by taking the pump back out of the water, turning it upside down, turning it back the right way and re-inserting it into the water. Sometimes you just need to gently wiggle it from side to side underneath the water to get it to work properly, as the pump itself needs to be full of water to function properly.
Could be that it's floating to the surface of the aqua roll as it's not full of water enough to sink - that's what was wrong with my Dad's - a pocket of air inside the pump head.
Normally the way the hot water tank is designed, the cold outlet is at the bottom and the hot outlet at the top. Therefore any air inside the tank will automatically push upwards so you have to prime the hot water tap first. It is best to prime the one nearest the pump first which could either be the kitchen sink or the wash basin depending on what layout design you have as you need to release the air at the first point of release. The air will then be continued to be pushed through the hot pipe towards the second point so by this time all the air should be completely eliminated and a constant flow of water should be achieved. Once this is done then turn on the cold water tap and do exactly as you did with the hot. If there is still a problem with water being delivered but still hear a gurgling sound there is chance that you either have air in the pump or a blocked water filter (if there is is one fitted). To remove air from the pump you have to let the pump run then whilst the pump is submerged, try tapping it against the inside of the water barrel and see if the water starts to flow. If still no success then try changing the water filter (if you have one). If that fails then have a look at the pressure switch which is usually white with a round dial on top. Try turning the dial and see if you hear a clicking sound as this will have to be set accordingly. There could be a loose jubillee clip at one of the junctions or maybe split pipe which there would be evidence of a minor leak. The sytem has to be pressurised in order to function correctly so if any air is being accessed at all then the water system will fail to operate as normal.
where the water comes into the van there is a valve that controls flow rate . its usualy before the drain off .i had a blown pump and got a slightly more powerfull one . it made all sorts of weird sounds pumping in. the chap in the van next to me told me about the vavle. it has a small wheell on top. gave it half a turn and iv had no problems since. if that dosent sort could be the pump. when im filling my van it does take a while [ over 5 mins] and i do each tap seperately. espescially the hot. makes sure the tanks full. and it splutters like mad when filling
