Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can improve the 'fit' of our Kampa Rally awning to our van. We have bought the extra (although essential!) back down poles which improve it immensely, but it is still not as snug as I would like and it flaps around quite a bit.

It is a great awning if only we could find a way to make it a bit more windproof. In saying that we are on the beach in the north of Scotland so the conditions are challenging to say the least!

I can't see anything else to buy that would help, but we hoped there is maybe a way to peg it or a 'homemade' adaptation that we could try and thought this was the right place to find that kind of expertise!

Ours flaps a bit but not much - it's fairly taut. It stood up to some nasty winds last year ok. Do you extend the legs so that the roof is taut ? The pegging should be done with the doors zipped up and the ones by the back poles should be done first as per the instructions. The 3 guys are at right angles to the van and the storm straps parallel to the van. We peg the flaps inside. Not sure what else there is you can do. We have a Hercules pole stretcher which we use on our full awning - maybe this will help ?

P.S we also have the monsoon poles which stop the roof flapping about a bit I guess !

Thanks - that sounds like what we do - although sadly got swizzed into getting a 2009 version not a 2010 so the storm straps can't fit (that's another story). It also means the flaps don't have any holes to peg (currently held down by several large rocks!). It is really just the fit to the van that is the problem - the rest has been pretty solid in more or less constant wind this week.

We had the same problem with our Kampa Fiesta but have improved the fit as follows. We use clamps to attach the roof pole ends to the van and the upright poles are always to the outside of the clamps. We then use a standard plastic peg threaded behind the clamp to press the upright poles firmly against the van where it fits in its pocket on the awning. We then peg the bottom of the upright pole in place as close to the van using cross pegging. By keeping the uprights tight into the van at the top and bottom stops any draughts.

Are you able to fit eyelets into the flaps in order to peg them down as well as using rocks? I have done this with our porch awning as that also did not have any.

You could also use the thick expanded foam clip on type of pipe lagging on the rear downpoles to make it even more snug to the van, a tried and tested meathod for the older type of porch awnings which works very well, although im suprised that you would need to do this with a Kampa Rally as i have never had any problems with ours even though we dont have the monsoon poles for the roof, just the rear uprights on our 2010 model.

I agree Romany Girl, we also have a Kampa Rally (having tried Sunncamp and Towsures own) and find the Kampa the best yet. More often than not we don't even use the rear poles.
