I certainly would welcome the opportunity to have a wind out sun canopy on my caravan rather than the Caravanstore which I currently have as it takes two of us to put it up and put it away. Not sure I would want to make an awning of it but a front sun blocker and side could be useful. Not sure its that much more expensive than a Caravanstore Zip.

We used to have one on our Tranny when we were racing. It was nothing but trouble. If there was the slightest wind it would flap about and we had to wind it in. We had to weigh it down with tool boxes etc in addition to rock pegs in the tarmac. If it rained one corner had to be lowered but seemed to drench everything anyway. The sides weighed a ton - that may have changed now though and were really hard to zip in. Winding it out was really hard too. The central pole buckled under the weight of water once. I would never ever have another one - but perhaps we had an older model and we were duffers - who knows !? I'm sure they are fine in the right hands !  

We watched a family struggling to put one of these up as a canoeing shelter on Conwy marina last week, they had arrived in a camper van with one fitted, although im a bit unsure what make the canopy was, but it took some time and effort to hold and support it still, whilst it was finally held in place by upright poles, then finally guy ropes at the front, and even then it flapped around like Grandma's Pantaloons on a windy wash day lol,  and it was only blowing a gentil breeze at the time.

It was quite noisey too, with the wafting of the canvas all the time, it certainly would have kept us awake if it had have been up thoughout the night.

I have the clip system fitted to our van, but I use the arched rafter on the canopy, this stops it flapping in the wind, and I use the storm straps, takes about 20 mins to put it up.
