Just wondering if our motor mover is working as it should - we haven't used it much but have tried it a couple of times and when turning it sort of turns but lurches forward at the same time whereas we just want it to go left/right not shunt left/right and forward a bit, difficult to describe.  We wondered whether it makes a difference as the caravan is a twin axle and it finds it harder to turn?

TBH we're not overly impressed with it and have thought about having it removed or maybe its not working as it should?

I would have thought that this would have been a normal effect with any motor mover on a twin axle actually. The reason being is that there is more pressure on the remaining three wheels when turning, this of course resulting in the jerking motion. This is the one disadvantage with twin axles that they are difficult to manoevre when stationary and the motor mover basically has the same problem.

We had a mover on our twin,mine jumped to when turning as if it was under strain waste of time i thought quicker with the car..

Thanks Jeff totally agree quicker with the car - wonder if it's worth having it taken off or just not using it, do they re-sell?

If you don't intend using the motor mover any more then it's worth considering having it taken off as this will reduce your towing weight which will have a better fuel consumption on the towing vehicle. It may not be much but when you add it up on each journey it's extra money in your pocket. And if you sell the motor mover as well then you'll need a bigger piggy bank!

Think that might be a consideration then thanks Tango.

I haven't a clue if its 2 or 4 jwg70, but by all accounts don't bother unless you want to go forward and back in a straight line lol

We had just the two and that added weight for towing though my Mits pulled no bother i did notice an MPG fall.

I would keep it on Woofers incase you decided to sell..if not take it off..

If you decide to sell it, it will work on a single axle caravan with a change of control box, (thats the control box fitted inside the caravan)
i noticed the mover is fitted on the front, try lowerig the front as low as you can to take the weight off the back wheels
the best twin axle mover i ever used was one of these.

My motor mover works on the front wheels of my twin axle and yes it does turn in a jerky manner but you get used to it and develop a form of many point turn if you want to turn tightly as you would if turning a car on a very narrow road. As said above it helps to drop the hitch as low as possible to put the weight on the driven tyres and reduce the weight on the undriven ones.

Overall I am glad I have mine as it gets the 'van onto my driveway safely and I can do it on my own. I also find it handy for hitching up as being a 'solo' caravanner I have no one to see me back and previously I had to keep jumping out of the car to check the exact position of the hitch as the van is too heavy for little old me to drag about. On reflection maybe I should have gone for the version that drives all four wheels but at twice the price my wallet ruled at the time.
