Its not just tyre pressure you need to consider as you have a new (to you) van. You can't pump 60odd psi into a 36 psi max tyre.
As the van is a 98/99 model then the tyres should not be the original (they should be changed every five years.) That means that the wheels on your van should be new. If you look here you can find out what all the numbers etc on the tyre wall mean (page11). Use this guide to identify the year of your tyres. From 2000, the week and year of manufacture are clearly stated, eg 0400 (week 4 of the year 2000). Strictly speaking, this information is only required on tyres which are also sold in North America, but many manufacturers include this information on all their tyres. If you just have three digits for the date, or are more than 5 years old then the tyres definitely need replacing
I mention this as it does happen that when folks sell a caravan they either replace the old tyres with proper new ones or, put some cheap old ones on that are innappropriate for the van. Before you pump the tyres up to 58 or 62 (in the case of my van) you need to be sure that the tyres can take the pressure. Again use the guide to find out where on the tyre it indicates its required pressure. Most manufacturers include this information despite what the chart says. Most tyres have all the data so they can be sold around the world. If the tyres show a pressure of,say, 32 psi then they may not be the right tyres for your van.
Have a safe and enjoyable trip
