I made one once from a shower curtain which just had seams sewn at regular intervals, then I sharpened some broom/mop poles and threaded them through the seams and the sharp end stuck into the ground. I guess you could do the same with bamboo sticks, or old tent poles, but they might not stand up to a mallet!
ETA - just been to look at the windbreak leisure ones - I see what you mean about those plastic corners now. You could ask if they stock spares of this part? Or have a look on ebay or maybe cak tanks might stock something similar.
