Hello nice people on this section of the forums... I am cross-posting this from the tents-bit to see if anyone has any bright ideas!
OK apologies to start with... this is likely to be a) complicated and b) rambling.
The Mister and I are planning on moving back to Guernsey in September and had planned to take 3 weeks off in August to go camping with friends etc before we move back.
We have a cat who doesn't travel well so we planned to take her down from Leeds to near Weymouth and leave her in a cattery whilst we went camping and then pick her up and go over on the boat back to Guernsey at the beginning of September.
However, this has been complicated by the fact that I have discovered that it is my parents 40th wedding anniversary on 5 August and they are having a party which we would like to attend. So we thought we would drive down to Weymouth or Poole and leave the car somewhere and go over to Guernsey as foot passengers with the cat.
So, here's the problem. Does anyone know of anywhere safe and secure that we could leave our car, packed with our camping stuff for 4-5 days?
Does this make any sense at all? I am sorry this is long... any ideas would be helpful!
Living in Weymouth I wouldn't recommend you leave your car anywhere in the town for that length of time. 1 - it will be mega expensive and 2 - it has been known for vehicles to be broken into in carparks overnight. Apart from the main carparks I can't think of anywhere that you could leave it safely.
Could you perhaps ask the cattery you use whether you could leave your car somewhere on their premises?
Alternatively if you are a member of the C&CC or the CC there are some sites in the area. Maybe one of them would let you use their premises.
Theres also RentMyDrive website who may be able to put you intouch with someone who could offer you a space to park, but i doubt that anyone would be able to garuantee it to be 100% secure, most are left at your own risk.
