We have the ABI Brooklyn 400/2. Have you checked the fuses under the bunk? There's a long row of them much like car fuses. Sorry if you have checked them, but I was wondering if you'd only checked the fuse at the unit. We were at a loss looking for fuses because there's so many of them in 3 different places!!
Another thing that our caravan service chap told us was that sometimes a switch sticks on older vans so to switch things off and on several times.
We had major problems at the start of the season, we'd only ever used things on mains and we are going on a few rallies on non leccy sites this year. So we put it on an electric pitch at our storage site to test everything. First the fridge wouldn't work on gas. That turned out to be the igniter that had stopped working.
The other thing was of our own doing though. The gas water heater wouldn't light on gas. We tried lots of times, with no luck. Followed the handbook instructions without any success. Then on the last attempt, it lit but with one hell of a bang. My DH said nonchalantly that it was the excess gas being burned off... The water heater was apparently lit, but after half an hour the water was still cold. We turned off the gas and used the electric to heat the water, but again, the water heater lights were on but the water wasn't getting hot. On inspection outside it sure was the gas blowing up.....so fierce was the explosion it had blown the cover off the water heater. The water in the water barrel was also making a weird noise - turned out that it was the water in the hot water heater flowing backwards, so we had to remove the pump.
At this point I decided it was prudent to fetch our chap in before DH did some real damage. I was only when I read out what the model numbers were of the fridge and the water heater, did we realise that the water heater was a different make to the one in the handbook. On a separate instruction sheet in the paperwork with the van was the proper instructions for the water heater installed in our van....and in large letters it said REMOVE OUTSIDE COVER BEFORE LIGHTING GAS !!! So it pays to check if you're reading the correct instructions in future!
After Nigel put a new igniter in the fridge and replaced the non-return valve that had blown, both the heater and fridge work perfectly. It was an expensive lesson. Apart from the cost of the fridge bits and the water heater repairs, the cover that we didn't remove cost us the best part of £17 to replace!
