Hi All
Well it has been windy down here in the south and at some point over the weekend a large branch has blown down from a nearby tree and landed on our vans roof. The ali skin is very dented over quite a large area and there is one spot where the skin has a deep gouge which has penetrated the skin, it is a 2008 Bailey Pageant by the way.
I do have CC insurance so I will be calling them first thing in the morning but I am wondering.
A. How would they repair damage such as this, would they just use filler and re spray or would they replace the damaged roof panel which is obviously a heck of a job.
B. I need to make some temporary repairs so that it watertight and I can hopefully use it as I don't want to lose it for lengthy repairs now that the season has just begun. Any suggestions on the best form of temporary repair
they will replace the roof under the insurance, i used a waterproof sheet and brown parcel tape when i removed the three front windows for replacement and it did not leak for over one month waiting for there return.dont use it on sides or front or rear as it marks the paint.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

Thanks for the suggestions, I have filled the hole with silicone sealant for now but will see if I can patch it properly tomorrow.
I just can't bear the thought of losing the van for weeks on end at this time of year, there are plenty of horror stories on here of lengthy repairs involving a trip back to the factory etc, Ideal scenario would be waiting until October. I am sure I can keep it watertight until then.
Sorry to worry you but last year we damaged our roof, at the end of June, all along one side and they replaced the whole roof. We had to wait until the caravan repairer could have the van in for 3 days as it entailed taking off the awning channel and roof vents etc. and that meant a wait of 6 weeks although the new roof came into the repair shop in around a week or so. Good bit was that there was no problem with the insurance, we were with Carefree though CC & C Club. Hope you can have a quick repair but in the long run it may be better, for re-sale etc, if you have a new roof. Good luck.
Hi, better get van in for repair, as there could be other damage you may not see, roof spars broken, insolation damaged, seals being dislodged, your wait for repair may not be to long as most of the caravaners should be on trips, and workshops dont have much work on. good luck.
