Several times a year, contributors on this forum have come on here with horror stories of purchased Caravans that are 'Not fit for purpose'

Have a read of this article and remember it the next time you wish to purchase something with a value of over £100. For instance a caravan! 

"Shoppers will be able to claim refunds on faulty goods, such as lap-tops and TVs, direct from their bank if they make the purchase with a credit card.

The details of the little-known rule have emerged in a decision from the consumer watchdog, the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).

I have used this facility on one occasion.  The dealer was unhelpful, but the card company agreed with me and were very helpful.

The comment about the 12 month warranty being too short for some types of godds is interesting.   I remember, many years ago, where this happened over a washing machine.  The buyer took them to court and judgement was in her favour, on the basis that a washing machine can be expected to last without major problems for considerably longer than 12 months.

Dissatisfaction in the dealing with caravan complaints frequently hits the forum, so any legal guidance to help keep dealers on the 'straight and narrow' is always a bonus.
