Does anyone know why I have problems filling my freshwater onboard tank with my 12 volt whale pump? I can only get approx. 2 to 3 litres in before water starts to backflow out of filler cap.
Sounds like you have a loose wire in the whale pump or the hose going into the plug end of the whale has become detached , remove the two screws on the plug end of the whale pump this should reveal the wires and you will be able to see if the hose is connected good luck .

is there not a set of taps to open and close in the correct order to allow water though to the on board tank? check for a non return valve in the pipe stuck or blocked.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I experienced this problem in a 1996 model, it seemed to be connected to the alignment of the tube from filler to onboard tank. Filling the tank was always accompanied by airbubble noise escaping from the filler. I fitted more brackets on this tube to eliminate 'sagging' (airlocks ?) & inserted the pump feed further. This did improve the filling of the onboard tank but did not eliminate the problem on all pitches. The problem did not occur on the 2001 model which we later used for 2 years. Hope this helps

Welcome to the forum.
Is this a new problem or has it always been the case? I don't know if the configuration is the same but I had a similar issue on my Vanmaster after it came back from service. Found that they had left the isolation valve set that is used when connecting a direct water supply.
Thanks to everyone who has responded I have checked out all suggestions and it now appears to be working OK, hope it remains when I next go out on site at Spring Bank Hols.
at last someone with a caravan like mine what year is your van vanroyceman ours is a 1998 still trying to find things out about came with no paper work
ive just purchased a 1997 vanroyce 535et which has no paperwork either,do you think yours will be the same as mine, only want to know how everything works properley, many thanks, also with the alarm do you just put a code in like you do on house alarm,
Hi Wiganer all you need to do for the alarm is insert your barrel key into the lock (mine is on the control panel) turn it clockwise to the on position then lock the van door. When you re-enter the van use the key to turn it anticlockwise (which is off).
I am willling to photocopy my paperwork and send to you if you pay for copying ad postage. If you want to provide your e.mail I will contact you via that.
