We've just returned from 11 nights at Damage Barton in Devon and we've just had the best holiday ever. We have 2 young children of 2 and 5 who would now rather go caravanning than on the Florida holiday we have booked for latwer this month!

One question, this was only our second outing since converting from canvas to a caravan and we had problems the first night getting our water to heat. I phoned the helpline at Lowdhams before they closed at 10pm and they told me what to do and it worked but I still don't quite fully understand what I did/did not do. All I know is it's something to do with when we lift the leaver to drain the water from the water heater following our last trip and when we should put the ehu in. Do we need to get the water heated and going on the liesure battery first or something?

I guess they are talking about the electric water heater. You must make sure you turn it off before moving the lever to empty it. Then when you come to use it again you must fill the boiler again and bleed off any air(using the hot water tap) and then you can turn on the power switch. If you don't do this the boiler will trip and you will have to reset it by disconnecting the EHU for around 10 mins The boiler does this to avoid boiling dry.

I hope this helps

Ahhhh, so if i've drained the water heater prior to switching it off it has tripped... that makes sense... So as soon as I pull the leave up it trips it?

It may have something to do with the elements in the heater. If the water heater switch is left on for a while before water is added to the tank it burns out. Sometimes, switching it off and waiting for it to cool down before switching back on helps.!!!! Thats what i did
