We bought a 2nd hand Bailey from a dealer last Thurs so the 28th April and we are being told we cant pick it up til the 24th May. I'm frustrated by this especially with the weather being so nice at the min, we just want to get out and use it! We have told the dealer we want it a week earlier (17th May) as we're hoping to get a quick try out weekend in it before we head off to the IOW for Whitsun for our last ever tent holiday (ferries all booked and too expensive to change now so van will have to stay behind )

Its only 11 days now ,and when you pick it up make sure they give you the vent covers for the fridge you would be amazed at how many don,t get them and they are around £30

We waited a month to get our second hand Swift Challenger. Look at it this way they have got plenty of time to make sure it is perfect for you! When we collected ours, it was all ready to go clean inside and out, new tryes, fully serviced and a basket of flowers for us. Perhaps thats what they are doing plus they will be very busy at this time of year.
Dealers can be very busy this time of year. I phoned our dealer in March to book an annual service and couldn't get it in till the beginning of June. Personally, if you are just wanting to try it out for a weekend, then I wouldn't push them into rushing it through the workshops. Let them take their time and get it checked over properly and it may save you a trip back to them later on when you might have a week or more booked.
We have put a deposit on a second hand caravan and were due to pick it up this weekend. However at the time of the deal we applied and were acccepted for their finance. However they didnt tell me I would need my driving licence to finalise the finance- apparently my passport is not good enough. So I have had to send off to DVLA for a new copy meaning we have to delay picking up our van until second week in June as we will be abroad when my licence is due back.
The dealer is not happy so much so they wanted an additional deposit (we refused) but what can I do? I find it very odd a passport is not accepted. They are not happy to wait the extra month

I am surprised that they wouldn't accept your passport except that they may want proof of address aswell, which of course a passport doesn't give. Did you ask them if your passport in addition to proof of address like a council tax bill would be acceptable as in most cases it is?

Yes they were adamant that nothing else was acceptable. Its a well known finance company too..under a company I used to bank with. I cant help but wonder if the dealer just have their rules or understanding and were unwilling to enquire further.
If you are talking about Black Horse finance thats who our caravan finance is with and Grantham Caravans were more than happy with just the Passport (as long as it's in date)!
We are exactly the same, we pick our used van up on Saturday. Its all because where we have had ours from, the dispatch people spend an hour with you and we wanted to collect it on a Saturday so had to wait even longer. It' s pain, we have said the same all this lovely weather we have missed.
