Hi everyone, we currently have our new van in storage til end of June,. We are thinking of putting the van in our back garden. Our side fence is alongside a turning point for the garages to the side of us. Do we need permission of any sort to change a fence panel to a gate and store the van in the garden? First trip away this weekend cant wait! thanks.
You may need permission from the council to store it and, maybe to see if your neighbours object. Our council gives a sticker to put on your van to say its been cleared to be in your back garden..

Provided it is on your owner occupied property & you can put in on your property direct from the road you don't need permission to store it. Your neighbours might object but there is nothing they can do to prevent you parking it. If fence is already there I can't see a problem with a gate.
Some properties might have covenants preventing caravan storage but these are normally imposed by the house builder & are not usually enforced once all properties on estate are sold.
WE store ours at home next to the house (where my shed was) there used to be a small gate and a couple of fence panels next to it, i replaced these with 2 featheredge board fence panels that swing out from the middle as gates, no objections, and to be honest 6ft fence means you can't really see it anyway. and also it looks tidier now than it did before!
