Am looking to take the caravan to France for the first time and was wondering if there is anything we need to be aware of? What are the best areas to visit under 6 hour drive from Calais I dont want to venture to the South of France just yet?
Have a look at the 'stick post' at the top of the 'Caravanning and Camping Abroad' section - here. Then ask away for your more specific questions. Six hours into France will get you down to the Loire, and probably further. It partly depends on if you want to pay to use the motorway of if you would prefer to use the N roads. The latter will take you longer, and therefore you won't get as far. If your 6 hours include stops, then you will need to factor this in too.
If you want to be near the coast 6hrs will get you to Brittany in NW France or turn the other way & you can go up to Holland. Very nice place for a caravan hol. plenty of campsites & most folk speak English. Inland 6hrs should get you near Saumur in't Loire which is a popular holiday area in Western France.
Both the French destinations in 6hrs will require you to use toll rds & with a caravan that will be around 40-60€ one way.
