CC has posted this information...."To enable the demolition of the existing A1 Bridge, the A684 under this bridge will be closed during the weekend beginning Friday 20 May. The road will be closed from 7.00pm on Friday and will be re-opened by 6.00am on Monday 23 May. Traffic will be diverted through Leases Road/New Leeming Junction.

If its of any help, when I go to Brown Moor I travel north up the A1 to Ripon A61 and then rejoin the A1 at the same junction. This is the old road which runs parrallel to the new road they are building. Keep on this road until you see the Burniston sign and turn off to the village. At the junction in the village (few hundred yards after leaving A1)  turn right and keep on that road into Bedale. At Exelby keep to the left of the small triangular village green. This route avoid the mess at Leeming Bar and its an easy enough road with a van.

You can't join the A1 going south from the Burniston exit but if you travel back that way from Brown Moor just carry on south through Burniston to Kirklington and join the A1 at Ainderby

A more rural route from the A61 is into Ripon and then the A6108 to Masham. Twisty road and a bit awkward in places but do-able. After Middleham cross the river bridge and then turn left to avoid Leyburn
