If we are on the motorway, we will stop at the services for loo breaks, but never leave the van unattended. As much as anything, it gives a chance to stretch legs after sittting in the car for a long time. Away from the motorway, we will stop in laybys and use the van's loo if required.
On the plus side, whilst stopping at Reading Services on the M4, heading home from France - we happened to pull up right alongside our previous caravan! We were delighted to see it and had a nice introductory chat with the new owners. Given that caravans only spend a few days of the year actually on the road - what were the chances of that?
We once spent the night in a motorway services - never again! Not good if you actually want some sleep. A lorry load of sheep parked next to us and on the other side a lorry had to have a mechanic called out to it at silly o'clock.
