I am planning a longish trip and I want to break the journey about halfway. Halfway is roughly between the M18 and A1(M) junction (J2/J35) and the A1(M) and M62 junction ( J42/J32a)

Has anyone got any suggestions of a good stopping place for a quick break both when travelling North and South.

Doesn't have to be exactly between these two points.

Its a bit further away but the new Wetherby services are good, or were you wanting an overnight stop? try Spen House, Minskip, near Boroughbridge or Boroughbridge C&CC site. Jx

If you just want a quick stop to stretch your legs and a cuppa I can recommend the Stockyard At Bawtry Think it's Jnct 3 of the M18 on the Bawtry road It is a truck stop but plenty of people use it as there is a large truck park plenty of turning space It obviously fills up with trucks at night but during the day it's quite empty

Hi,

Steve's right about the Stockyard recommendation, I've heard it's good also but I havn't stopped there myself (only live a couple of miles away so a bit of a waste for me).
However, it's at Hellaby not Bawtry. If you come off the M18 at Junction 2 and head towards Maltby and Bawtry then take the first exit left at the next roundabouot (just a couple of hundred yards) you go all the way through an industrial estate then the Stockyard is on your left right at the end of the estate.
I've heard the food's good also.

little chef just 5 miles north of doncaster south of the pontefract turn off or at the end of the a1m doncaster bypass there is a cafe/travel lodge on the left half a mile up the hill both directly off the a1

Just for a break on the way you can do worse than the services at the junction of the A1(m ) and the M62

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

It has to be Wetherby if you just want a quick break without detouring which will make a 20 minute stop into a 40 minute one . Plenty of parking , loads of toilets and places to spend your money , or pop in for ``a quick one`` and boil your own kettle in the `van . Darned expensive fuel though .
