ive just taken over a old luner caravan but ime not shure of the correct tyre pressure the size of the tyres on are155/80r13if someone coulde help me i woulde be obliged
Many old Lunar caravans were fitted with marginal car tyres. I had a Lunar Saturn & the recommended pressures were the tyres maximum - 36psi.
For the time being, I'd suggest that you set the tyres to pressures close to the maximum for the tyres that are fitted. On your first run out, check pressure cold and then hot, after an hours run. Hot, they should be about 4psi above the cold pressure. If the difference is more than 4psi then increase the cold pressure a bit. If less then you could reduce by a bit. If you find you need to go above the tyres max pressure to keep the increase from cold to hot around 4psi then you need to look for better tyres.
Car tyres 155/80R 13 79T have load rating at 437kg each at 118mph. As you will be doing no more than about 60mph you can safely go to & a bit over 874kg all up weight of caravan. Max pressure for this size is 44psi so 38psi is about right.
You could probably go up a size to 165/80R 13 82T load rating of 475kg per tyre at 118mph. If your tyres are old, more than 5yrs they should be replaced even if tread depth is ok. I just put mid range Firestone 155/80R 13 on my 700kg caravan, £80 the pair & run them at 38psi.
I had my tyres changed using Etyres......£52 plus VAT per tyre for Falken R-51's............came to where I store the tincan, changed, balanced in 20 mins and old tyres disposed....Magic.
