Like a few others, this thread has put us in doubt.  However, we have caravanning friends who go to Clumber Park regularly, and they have never mentioned this problem.  He is a security guard, nearing retirement, so he would be 'in tune' with any dodgy situations.

Thefts go on all over the place with people taking all sorts of things. Kids are always having dustcaps taken & even the kids of members of all clubs want to be seen with something just a little different which the dustcaps mentined by the OP obviously are. If it was a youngster who took these dustcaps the last thing he/she was going to think about was whether or not Mummy & Daddy are members of one club or another.

We were on a site last summer & it was very busy, they have big pitch changes on a Wednesday & it was then we heard of someone waking up to find their outboards motor had been taken off their boat. It took two of them to put it on there so it must have been more than one person to take it away. Someone else lost an Isabella windbreak & someone else lost a bike. I'm sure people having larger things away watch the patterns of their targets & know what they're going to have away. I'm afraid I chain everything to out caravan & beware anyone caught trying to take it.

We have a long chain and a couple of robust padlocks.  I have to admit that, on occasion, I have threaded the chain through table, chairs, etc that are left in the awning.  But it does make us feel that we are sending a message to other innocent campers that we don't trust them.  Not exactly conducive to social, friendly relaxation, is it?

We are sitting safely at Clumber right now, no thieves sneaking amongst us, only  dog walkers on their last rounds. Seriously if this site has been on your "to visit" list get on and visit and don't let all of these posts put you off. We've had a lovely walk and bbq, a "turn" around the site to see many happy people bbqing and one couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Great weekend. Even the weather has been better than forecast. We'll be back in a few weeks :)

It is one of my favourite sites and like this post...I hope I can get booked for next weekend as the place is nearly always fully booked at weekend.

Go and enjouy, hoever be as careful as you would be at home...you don't leeave bikes in your front garden or in the street.

Enjoy!!!
