Our caravan is an oldie but decided to insure as replacement would be difficult. I did several searches with search engines like Compare.com £1500 value & insurance was £68, but felt it was worth it as covers alot, although maybe I'd be better off putting £68 away each year, with such an old van?

We have a Jumbo tent and last year we insured with the C&CC as we are members, it cost us £32. This years renewal is £42 and we never made a claim. We have found E&L Insurance, (at www.eandl.co.uk), for this year. Same great cover, new for old etc and only £15 for the year. They insure loads of different things including camping and caravanning.

You clearly haven't been keeping up! If there is one company that consistently gets poor feedback on here, it E&L. Not a worthwhile saving, I would feel.

Im with caravanguard, I changed my van recently and seemed expensive after changing so will be shopping around come December when my renewal is up. However have made a claim with then about 2-3yrs ago and they never put my premium up and they handled the claim fantastically and the van was in and new side was on and back to me in no time (Had an argument with a bay window pulling into a site, needless to say the van lost!)

We are with Towergate Bakers, maybe not the cheapest, but most cetainly quick and dealing with a claim we had, all sorted within a week and van back to us within 10 days.

However may look around this year though, paying £305.00 for 12k cover.

I have just insured our caravan with Simple Insurance after reading this thread. Got it £35 cheaper than our previous insurers (Saga). And got travel to Europe included.

C & CC club. I like the fact that if it's stolen without security devices fitted, or a low security place they just increase the excess rather then invalidate the claim. The excess is £100 with wheel clamp and hitch at home or a secure site, £250 at home with no security, & £500 in a non secure location with or without security. An approved device (such as a hub lock) will reduce the excess in a non-secure location. As my storage place is a farm (no CCTV & barbed wire fences) & I also store at home sometimes, this suites me great. They also gave me 15% discount for having tyron bands & I think £80 for a year is good. If I insured with simply caravan insurance, if I was to store at home for more then one night, I had to inform them, & pay an ammendment fee. The when returning it back into storage I would have to do the same again!
