 Correct . Car paint work particularly metallic and pearlescent paints have a clearcoat on them to bring out the micas in the base coat and give the shine,this is also fairly hard compared to single coat paintwork as on most caravans and  motorhomes.

Autoglym products are very good and should do the job very well.  I never use anything else now and i actually work in the automotive paint industry.

If you try G3 follow jeff jukes advice of a small area first. 

I have given the car and caravan a good going over in the last few weeks, for the van I have used Silky followed by Autoglym and topped off with this , its a non abrasive caranuba wax and the results were superb, in fact I had to wear sunglasses in the end as the light shining off the van was hurting my eyes. For the faded front ABS panel I used Farecla gelcoat restorer and topped off with the above polishes. The van has never looked so good (and that includes picking up from dealers), only problem is, it has showed up the little imperfections where the rugrats have been less than careful with bikes, scooters etc.
