We arrived at a campsite yesterday after a journey of about 20 miles and I noticed in my mirror something hanging down the side of the van. It was the black plastic strip that covers the screws on the awning rail. It had obviously come out at some point in the journey and the wind had finished the job. By the time I noticed it was out for about half it's length. Fortunately it has gone back in but I wondered if anybody else had had this happen?
had this on our old van lost all the door trim we got there and it was on the ground .refitted with clear silicone and it did not come out again.plastic trim shrinks with old age and uv light.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

I found if the strip has been riveted or pinned at the bottom corners it usually comes off at the bend just before the roof.Have replaced the plastic bead a few times with my vans and found out once it starts to come off then its time to replace.
Thanks for that. Ours didn't seem loose and still doesn't having pushed it back in. It was very hot on Saturday and that side of the van had been facing the sun before we set off. Also when I refitted it the strip was very soft and was too long by a couple inches but eventually shrank back to be a perfect fit.
I shall have to keep an eye on it. Quite 'reassuring' to read jaiash post as van is only 3 years old and I thought it was too young for this sort of thing. Should have known better.
