I have just purchased a new decal of the "Avante" logo for my caravan. The old one was beginning to peel off and it looked unsightly.
It is of the self-adhesive variety but having been in the printing industry for 43 years - and this branch of it for over 20 - I have to confess to never having ever come across this type of self-adhesive sticker before.
It would appear that one of the release papers are removed exposing the every high tack surface which then comes into contact with the caravan body. I'm OK up to this point. Once the decal is postioned correctly, there is another release paper which upon removal exposes the new decal in all its glory.
It's getting this second release paper off without pulling the decal away with it which is causing me the problem.
I'd be grateful for any advice before I start 'cos at £8.50 a pop, this decal wasn't cheap and I don't want to mess it up and have to buy another. It also took ages to obtain..........
£8.50 ,your lucky ,we recently contacted Bailey because we were miffed that the decals on out 4yr old van were already starting to bubble to be shown in the direction of their spares website where the decals can be purchased for £50 + each
Sorry no advice (just a whinge ) but good luck !

Sounds similar to the decals I used on my caravan.
I found using a credit card to rub the decal down first helped and then I peeled the top paper off so that it remained flat against the van rather than pulling away from the van (and thus pulling the decal away too) if you see what I mean?!

Yeah I know what you're saying and I know how much they cost to produce! After the substrate the most expensive thing is the make-ready time and machine time. It's prohibitive and that's what makes these things so expensive.
In another field of print, outdoor posters cost an absolute fortune. The first copy of a poster 10' x 20' in size is about £6,000 and each subsequent copy is between £6.00 and £7.00. so 1000 copies would cost nearly £12,000!

Have a look here
About five minutes into the video.
Thanks for this - very helpful.
The experts make it look easy, don't they?
Vic
They certainly do make it look easy don't they Vic, it was a similar experience for me when I watched the decals man put the stickers on a lorry they'd just painted. He almost threw them on & they were perfectly positioned without an air bubble in place anywhere.
It might pay you to ask at a local paintshop if they could apply yours for you or indeed if the decals man might do the job on the side.
Funnily enough I removed some of the graphics on our van as soon as I bought it as I thought they were a bit overpowering. I've seen some which were put on by someone with a list to one side
