Hi,
We are proud new owners of an old caravan without awning. We've had a FC and gave up on the original canvas awning (too big, too heavy, too awkward and slow to put up).
There seem to be loads of caravan awning options out there. What we really want is the fastest and easiest to put up so that we can start sitting and relaxing asap.
Agree with Harpmaker and DSB. Our old Marauder had a low rail. Always pitched with wheels on top steps of Fiamma levelling ramps to increase the rail height but still had saggy roof and side panels
I've had a google at your suggestions and they all look good - can't stand all the flapping about and marital breakdowns that come with the big canvas ones.
The height is only 210cm. Any more suggestions?
Would I be able to use a motorhome awning? Is the connection they same? I guess they would be lower than a modern caravan.
Hey Benski - my old van had a low awning rail (I think it was 210 as well) - I got a Pyramid Weekended plus - the local dealer let me take it home and try it free (great service from him) to see if it fit which it did. If it hadn't he promised me a full refund. Still got it on my new van and it goes up in around 20 mins. Enough room for shoes and a couple of chairs - can't complain!

I have a non standard size micro caravan from Holland. I have a movelite drive-away awning fitted to the back, but you can fit them at the sides as well, there is a 'hoody' bit which attaches to whichever awning rail you fancy and gives that extra bit of manoevering with the height. I think there's a pic in my gallery of it!
Not bad to put up - two crossover lengths of poles, 4 bottom corners to put into pins, then peg down. Me and a friend take about 15 mins to put up, 25 on my own.
We have a Sunncamp Moto (I think) which we used to attach to the FC. I know it has some kind of attaching device so I'm going to see if it will attach to the caravan tomorrow. It's not the easiest thing to put up but much easier than the old canvas monster. I am going to see if I can find a bargain caravan porch as they look even easier.
Speed and ease are essential! A pop up awning would be a good idea.
It's a lot of money to pay, and even the 'full awning' is smaller than our 'porch'. Also I don't know how stable they would be if the weather got a bit rough. Might be great, but don't think I'd risk the best part of a grand to find out.
