we have just bought an awning from ebay, its oldish, canvas type material.Does anyone know what we can get it clean with? gotta TRY to keep up with the joneses!! its OLD and muddy!
i did ours with the stuff from fenwicks.awning cleaner and re-proofer.screw two large hooks into the outside wall and hang it up to clean.i used a scrubbing brush and cleaner the reproofed.
If it's a big awning wait till you put it up on site or at home if you have the space and once you've cleaned it. Use the paint on reproofer. Its so much cheaper and works a treat. If you get it on the window clean it off immedately other than that it's a doddle to use and half the price
Thomsons water seal is fab and about £10 a gallon cheap too. You'll get it at any builders merchants, Homebase, B &Q. Etc It's for sealing patios, roofs Etc BUT it is suitable for fabric, canvas. It's well known in the boating world for reproofing covers, canopies, hoods Etc

Adopt a rescue, rescue dogs make great pets, don't support puppy farms.
The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.

yes place them 6 or 7 foot high about 8 foot apart you can then hang the awning from the base to clean it against the wall.also you can use a hose pipe if required.must be strong hooks there is a lot of weight.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Try your yellow pages for a commercial laundry (the sort that hotels use rather than a launderette). They should be able to get it in a washing machine. I think Paragon have branches in Somerset, but they may have to send it to a bigger branch for washing.
Just looked at the one in Bridgewater. That is definately looking like more than a launderette, so they could probably do it for you.
Almost forgot, it will need reproofing after. You can use Thomsons Water Seal rather than the proper stuff. It's a LOT cheaper, just don;t use the "Ultra" variety (don't know why) I used the ordinary one on a trailer tent a few years ago very sucessfully. You can get it from B&Q
Commercial laundries use some very high powered tumble dryers, wouldnt this process shrink the fabric and possibly damage the plastic mudskirt and windows?
