Hi question, does the Caravan Club or the Camping and Caravan Club lobby for the rights of Campers and Caravaners in the same way as the AA and RAC do for drivers?
Inasmuch as Tesco lobbys for the rights of consumers, yes, although I am struggling to remember when either the AA or the RAC, now both owned by private equity vultures did actually lobby for the rights of motorists.

Because ,we are by very definition 'campers ' which means we are far too laid back to ever kick up a fuss about anything other than the beer being a bit warm so whats the point ?
Yes they do and I am sure that if you email either they can give you a list of the campaigns they have lobbied for. David Amiss MP is the CC parliamentary advisor for lobbying purposes

Cheers Phil, it does strike me that are a large and tighter nit group than most, and often enough people discuss in numbers areas of unhappyness with the certain trends etc.
Like Skittish says, we are probably a bit to easy going for our own good.
It would be good if there where a clear way of having items discussed if it comes to it.
Are the 2 clubs effective at getting our message across?
I'm not answering that, but I would pose the following questions:
1). Is the camping/caravanners spend in the UK even recognised?
2). In our "big society" (altough previous governments can't and shouldn't escaspe questionning) is the value of families spending quality time together considered? Apart from the emotional value what is the long term financial value of a strong family unit?
3). Lets get as much money from the motorist as possible! Those with family cars, especially those who need a bit of weight, should pay most! I wouldn't grumble but the CO2 emmissions generated by us campers and caravanners is negligable in comparison to flyers and the likes.
Hope this isn't too political.
Happy camping.
Dan
The Camping and Caravanning Club certainly lobbies for caravanners though much doesn't get published because it might hamper the sensitive negotiations!
All proposed legislation regarding caravans (and towcars, campsites, etc) is sifted, commented on and lobbied for or against as appropriate.
I would have thought both Clubs do rather a lot of 'lobbying' not only to Government but also they are members of international organisations like the FIA (not just to do with F1!) and international camping organisations. I suspect where the issue is in the question is do they actively campaign to change things or do the campaign to protect members interests and I would imagine that more of the latter goes on than the former. I would have thought the CC would be more likely to try and get people on side rather than being confrontational. I would be interested to know what issues people think there needs to be a campaign on?
