with various areas of the country now going over to digital television, is the answer to the fixed caravan aerials, to take a digi box with you in the caravan ??
I have been looking at the mini boxes which would not take up much room, any one any thoughts on the matter

If you are looking for a compact Sky satellite receiver, then keep a look out for a Pace 2000 Mini-Box (aka Javelin) I have fished the odd one or two out of a skip, as they used to be std issue for Sky MultiRoom a few years back, great little receiver, and runs of 12v via external power pack.
For none Sky receiver, go for a Comag 12v unit, again very small, as for Freesat from BBC/ITV most receivers are full size, havn't seen any compact models as yet.
Bought a cheap (£20.00) box from currys to use with my status ariel, works a treat perfect picture in wales and cornwall to date. You need a scart lead to go with it though.
More recent TV's have a digital tuner built in so generally there is no need for a seperate digi-box. We have never had any real problems with TV reception, and don't especially want to go down the free-sat line.
Digital TV Tuner DVB-T SCART FREEVIEW Receiver+Recorder
i bought the above from ebay its the size of a packet of cigarettes and plugs into scart socket and transform your analogue tv to digital , also you can put an SD card into it and record 4 hours of tv and costs £19.00 incl p&p , i have seen them advertised in national news papers for over double that price
some good ideas, for which I thank you all,so it looks like I dont need to get a digi box for the caravan,
Off for couple of weeks down in cornwall, and didnt want to find that when I got there reception would be very poor .
So that should keep her indoors happy then if she can watch Corries
Thanks again to all

hI bruno69,Just read your reply to the thread and am not sure wether or not you realise that unless your TV has built in freeview you WILL need a digibox to recieve anything at all in cornwall. Its nice to have some television in the evening beautiful as Cornwall is!!

our little telly for the 'van has a built in tuner and when used in conjunction with the sat' dish, is usually upto the job, but on our last outing it just would not find a signal so i hooked it up to a small digi box ,low and behold we got a signal strength of 92% and access to 40+ channels
------------- no tin tent outings booked as yet ,just another cruise in Sept' booked so far
