Greetings All,
I have just taken advantage of Al-Ko's Shock Absorber promo (£49.99 a pair) and have just spent a delightful? afternoon fitting them.
I had read about how easy they were to fit and so with light heart I set about the task.
Herein laid the problem. We have a Lunar Lexon SE,(now superceded by the Lunar Lexon 540. Other Brands are available LOL). The layout is nearside fixed bed with bathroom across the rear and a nearside cupboard housing the heater immediately to the rear of the entrance door.
That was the problem. Exactly where the top bolt of the shock absorber was to go was the corrugated tube taking the warm air heating to the front of the van. Besides that there was the problem of the motormover directly underneath hindering access to the retaining strap screws for previously mentioned tube.
After much huffing and puffing I managed to unscrew the clip but still couldn't get the tube to move out of the way.
Here's my tip for giving yourself enough room.
I squashed the tube using a pair of ratchet G Clamps until the tube was oval in profile and far enough away from the chassis to allow the shock absorber to pass unhindered.
The Offside was a piece of cake and only took a few minutes once I had the wheel off and chassis on an axle stand.
So there you have it. If you have a model comparable with ours with a cupboard behind the door housing the heater, you may come across the same problem.
------------- How come when some people visit the fountain of knowledge, they only gargle!!!
