I emailed to ask about servicing & damp report. It hasn't been serviced since 2007 & the seller has said 'there's no evidence of water ingress'.
It's a couple of hours drive from us & the auction ends Saturday evening so we'd have to go view after dropping our current van at it's new home in St Helens.
On the one hand I'm thinking 'don't go there', I don't feel we know enough to spot anything seriously wrong before buying & might end up with a huge bill when we get it serviced. On the other hand I'm thinking it might turn out to be a good one, at least worth a look?
Would you go look or would you stick with vans that have been serviced regularly?
If you are interested go and have a look. In my experience service history is only as good as the person doing the service and there are some poor 'engineers' out there.

nice van but how does the seller know theres no damp? From what I've read damp isnt always obvious to spot. We've been really surprised at how many people just dont get their vans serviced. If I was looking at a 2005 van I would pay for a mobile engineer to inspect it. We were lucky that the damp van we bought came from a dealer otherwise I dread to think how we would have felt.
On a lighter note, have you seen the lovely Eccles Amethyst on ebay, I'm sure its near you too.

Still not sure about the Swift. Looks great & we could hire a decent damp meter. More concerned about things like gas, electrics & running gear that we know nothing about so wouldn't know if something was wrong.
Certainly looks tidy and looks as though it has been looked after. I wonder what there reserve price is. The internal shots look lovely and they've obviously gone to the effort of photographing everything included. If you are going to check it out I'd certainly take a damp meter with me so you can do your own checks.
Hi Vanessa, I can highly recommend an MCEA engineer in that neck of the woods - only charges £60 - he spent ages with the damp meter on ours and tested all services.

Think I would get Fiona's man to pop round it might be £60 but it may well save you a lot in the long run.
2007 was four years ago, if there is damp it could have done a lot of damage by now and may not be visable.
It looks a nice van hope it works out how you want it to.
Well, we've decided to have a look. We're seeing 3 tomorrow so dropping our Compass at it's new home in St Helens, going on to the Wirral for a viewing, then down to Towyn for another then on to Llandudno for this one. It's quite an easy route to cover comfortably in a day & if nothing else will give us a feel for what we do or don't like.
