Thanks everyone!  We still can't quite believe the price we've paid.  But the seller seemed happy with it - said it was what he'd have got 'trade'.  They're a lovely family - it's nice to know the van has been loved & cared for & it shows in it's condition.

She's on our storage site now.  We'll be booking a service ASAP & replacing the tyres - they look like new but the van's been on a 'tow & stow' site & they're over 5 years old.  Also going to have an extra plug socket put in at the back.  Other than that she's gorgeous & ready to go.

And to top it all, it's a stunning day & DS played on the beach before we collected the van so he's happy too

Me???? Have decided our two berth isn't working out as planned, so putting it up for sale today, know what van we want next exactly the same year 2006 but a fourth berth, either a 530 or 520, but have to sell ours first :-/

How can you tell other people are watching it? I thought only the seller could see the number of watchers on an item? Can feel a useful ebay tip coming along here...

To the OP - what a lovely van! Nice layout.

Just as well I didn't know how many were watching the van during the auction!  As it was we sat watching the seconds tick away waiting for someone to bid against us. 

Even when we won there were a few minutes of wondering 'Is he really going to let us have it at that price?' but then the seller rang to congratulate us.  Phew!

And the icing on the cake for us is we've made new friends - we'll be keeping in touch with the people who bought our Compass - they're lovely.

We were nervous about the whole selling & buying privately thing but we've had really good experiences both ways
