wizzo, I wonder if you could do this on a new van though without affecting the warranty, I know most manufacturers are really hot on this type of thing.
I suspect because they want you to go to the dealer for alterations one becuse then they know it's been done to their standard and two it gives them more business.

I also have a 2010 Altea 542DT and I love it to bits.  Key factors for me in plumping for the Adria were:

*  reputation for build quality (backed up by the warranty provided)

*  no bells and whistles (I didn't want to have, or pay for, a built-in TV aerial, stereo or microwave oven)

*  relatively light weight (I had no towing experience when I bought the caravan so felt more comfortable with the idea of a lighter van.  Good for longer-term fuel economy/wear and tear on the car too)

*  interior styling (a bit "Marmite" (love it or hate it) but I like it - light and airy)

*  accomodation (I wanted three fixed bunks and the Adria ones were considerably bigger than others (e.g. the Sprite))

If you want to add extras or lots of personal touches then I think the Adria works well as a blank canvas as the interior doesn't clash with anything.  Wizzo is being far too modest in his replies by the way - from his photos I reckon he's turned his into a five-star hotel room

Regards,

    Derek.

One of the other owners checked with his dealer and this is what he posted

"Cheers for the info. I got an email back from my Caravan Dealer today when I asked about fitting this myself and the warranty. They said "I can confirm if someone fits a Ultraheat to the rear of the fire, and if as a result, this was to cause further problems then this would not be covered by Adria`s warranty." Fair comment I think as you said, they would have to prove that it was what I fitted that caused the problem some how."

The Ultraheat just bolts on to the back of the fire and can be accessed by taking the floor out of the bottom of the wardrobe. You don't actually disturb any of the existing wiring. You don't even take the fire out.You need to take a 240v feed from the consumer unit in the wardrobe. If you are unsure then ask the dealer to quote for parts and labour and then labour only as you could probably get the kit of eBay for cheaper. The instructions on the kit refer to taking out the fire but on the Adria you can get access from behind. If the dealer quotes for taking out the fire then they are wrong. They are making the job harder than it needs to be. This will bump up the labour to remove the fire

Adria are really good with warranty claim and appear to be guided by the dealer. My dealer is very helpful and has in past sent items out to me for me to fit to avoid having the inconvenience of me having to take the van in.

I  Adria's!

We just had the Ultraheat added - 350 quid including fitting - you are being ripped off by whoever quoted you 700 quid!

We've managed two years up to now with two electric oil radiators and a fan heater, never had a cold night (we've been away for Christmas and New Year) and the heater doesn't use that much gas anyway!

Bunks are massive - great for growing kids.

Ok washroom in the DK isn't brilliant but it does for us!
